A Story Box Collection
A small measure of flavor can change an entire recipe. Citrus can brighten a frosting, cinnamon can deepen a cookie and a touch of maple, rum, bourbon, almond or fruit can turn something familiar into something entirely new.
The Baker’s Flavor Collection lets the recipient choose six 4-ounce bottles from Cook’s remarkable assortment of non-vanilla extracts and flavorings.
They can build a cabinet of dependable baking essentials, explore flavors they have never used before or combine both—creating a collection shaped around what they already love to make and everything they might try next.
Behind every bottle is Cook Flavoring Company, a family-operated California maker founded in 1918. Although the family first built its reputation through vanilla, generations of curiosity, flavor chemistry and experimentation eventually produced an extraordinary pantry of citrus, fruit, spice, nut and spirits-inspired flavors.
This is more than a collection of extracts. It is a pantry of possibilities—six small bottles ready to become cookies, cakes, frostings, sauces, drinks and family recipes still waiting to be written.

What’s Inside
Choose six 4-ounce Cook’s extracts and flavorings. Combine fruit, citrus, spice, maple and spirits-inspired selections to create a useful flavor cabinet made for their kitchen.
Meet the Maker
Six different flavors share one family legacy—more than a century spent studying ingredients, developing extracts and capturing the aromas that bring recipes to life.
Paso Robles, California
The Cook’s story began in 1918 when Angus T. Lochhead founded a flavoring company to supply superior extracts to America’s growing ice cream and baking industries.
Angus’s son Raymond combined the family’s practical experience with an education in chemical engineering and aromatic chemistry. His experiments led to new extraction methods, flavor formulations and ways of capturing the distinctive character of natural ingredients.
In 1963, Raymond established the family’s California plant in Paso Robles. There, the company expanded beyond the vanilla that built its reputation and developed a broad pantry of fruit, citrus, spice, nut and spirits-inspired flavors.
Today, Josephine Lochhead and her family carry Cook’s into its fourth generation. The company continues to develop its flavors and manufacture its bottled products in-house.
We chose Cook’s because the company understands that flavor is never merely an ingredient. It can awaken a memory, connect generations and inspire someone to make a familiar recipe entirely their own.
Meet Cook Flavoring CompanyBehind the Bottle
Extracts and flavorings concentrate aroma and taste into a form that can be measured a spoonful at a time. A single bottle may influence dozens of recipes while taking up little more room than a spice jar.
Citrus flavors can brighten cakes, cookies and frostings. Warm spices can deepen holiday baking. Fruit flavors can carry summer into the pantry, while maple, rum and bourbon-inspired selections can bring richness to desserts, sauces and drinks.
Some flavors become dependable essentials. Others encourage experimentation. Together, they give the baker more ways to adjust, personalize and transform a recipe.
This six-bottle collection celebrates the creative side of Cook’s—a century-old vanilla company whose curiosity grew into an extraordinary American flavor cabinet.
