A Story Box Collection

Four Bottles. Four Landscapes. One Remarkable Bee.

Honey is more than sweetness. Every bottle records a particular landscape—the blossoms that opened, the season in which the bees gathered and the places their search for nectar carried them.

The American Honey Roads Collection invites them to explore that changing character through four bottled honeys from Awckland’s Sugar Shack & Apiary.

They can compare the gentle familiarity of Basswood Clover, the regional character of Blueberry, the fragrance of Orange Blossom and the darker profiles of Japanese Knotweed or Lanternfly Honeydew. Tupelo, Wildflower and Vanilla Infused honey open still more roads through the collection.

Each selection arrives in an 8-ounce glass Muth bottle. With its embossed honey motif and cork-style presentation, this distinctive bottle recalls an era when extracted honey was beginning to move from the comb into specialized containers made for the American pantry.

Behind the collection is a Pennsylvania family apiary that began with a single hive in 2012 and grew into hundreds of hives placed throughout Bucks, Berks, Lehigh and Montgomery counties.

This is more than four bottles of honey. It is a tasting journey shaped by blossoms, bees and the remarkably different flavors a landscape can hold.

Meet the Makers

A Family Apiary and the Landscapes Behind the Honey

Four different honeys share one family story—a beekeeping journey that began with a single backyard hive and grew across southeastern Pennsylvania.

01

Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Awckland’s Sugar Shack & Apiary

The Awckland family’s beekeeping story began in 2012 with one hive in their front yard. That first colony did not survive the year, but it started a much larger journey.

Through classes, conferences and guidance from experienced beekeepers, the family continued learning how to care for colonies through Pennsylvania’s changing seasons. Their apiary eventually grew to approximately 250 hives located throughout Bucks, Berks, Lehigh and Montgomery counties.

Those different locations help reveal one of honey’s most fascinating qualities: its flavor changes with the plants, weather and season surrounding each hive. A light spring honey can taste remarkably different from a dark late-season harvest, even when it comes from the same beekeeper.

We chose Awckland’s because its honeys make those differences visible—and delicious. Every bottle becomes a small portrait of the landscape the bees explored.

Behind the Bottle

When Honey Found a Bottle of Its Own

Before extracted honey became common, honey was frequently sold in the comb. As extraction and bottling expanded during the nineteenth century, specialized glass containers helped turn liquid honey into a recognizable pantry product.

The embossed Muth-style bottle recalls that transition. Its squared glass form, honeybee imagery and traditional closure transform the container into part of the experience rather than something merely holding the honey.

Once emptied, the bottles can be kept as pantry pieces, bud vases or small reminders of the four landscapes explored through the collection.
