Bauman’s Fruit Butters are traditional, handcrafted spreads made by the Bauman family in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania—continuing a Pennsylvania Dutch fruit butter legacy that began in 1892. Founded when John W. Bauman bought a cider press and began making apple butter in his carriage shop, the business has remained family-owned through multiple generations, still honoring the same old-fashioned methods and recipes handed down over a century ago.

Bauman's Apple Butter is made in season, in small batches by a Pennsylvania Dutch family. We use a centuries old recipe of clean fresh apples, pure apple cider and sugar. Bauman's Apple Butter is available with sugar and without sugar and with or without sassafras and spice. Our Apple Butter is thick, dark and rich! Over five pounds of apples are required to yield one pound of Apple Butter. It is so concentrated no refrigeration or even a lid is needed. In fact, it will keep for years, though the flavor is so good that you'll want to enjoy it as soon as possible. The extra cider used in the "Sweetened with Cider" variety makes it almost as sweet as the "Sweetened with Sugar" style, but with no added sugar. Either type is great with any meal or an anytime snack. Thin with hot water if thicker than desired.
